Maple Road Skateboards in the beginning

Digging through more archives of our backyard ramp in the late 70s, Kevin came across this photo. Rare one of Kevin Harris taking a break from freestyle and skating vert. The photo is a FS Slash from 1978 riding a Bad Company board. This was our first ramp, it had no flat bottom, no platforms and was 12’ wide. It wasn’t until later when we realized how important flat bottom was to set up for the other side... the next photo is from 1979 of a Rock n Roll. This was the next generation of our ramp. It was 16’ wide with pool coping and had both flat bottom and platforms. Fun fact, in both photos you’ll see friends standing on the grass. Since dropping in wasn’t a thing yet, we’d all watch the session from the bottom, and when it was your turn you’d run as far up the ramp as possible, throw down and start pumping. Both these photos were shot by my long time, childhood friend @msk8blake. Many hours we spent together on these ramps, and I’m very proud of his accomplishments in life.
